The East Sacramento event has been going strong since the 80s. The Sacramento Fab 40s Christmas lights display is an annual tradition where residents in the East Sacramento neighborhood elaborately decorate their homes for the holiday season. The lights are typically on full display from the second weekend of December through New Year’s. The event is a free, self-guided experience, though visitors should be prepared for heavy traffic, especially on weekends and Christmas Day, so walking is often recommended. The neighborhood is generally located on streets numbered in the 40s (e.g., 40th to 49th streets) between J Street and Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento.
